I purchase a new laptop with Windows 10 which had a trial version of Office which I was unaware was on the drive. I received and error which told me I had another version of Office which I removed through the control panel. I still get the same error. Check if you still have any other versions errog Office suite installed on your computer.
Note : In clean boot mode all the third party applications Including your security software will be disabled. When I installed Office again it was through a clean boot. There are many errors in the log for example. Error: OptionDependency: Indirect dependencies are not supported.

Once the traces of Office suite is removed, try re-installing Office in clean boot and check if that resolves the issue.
